For more than 35 years, Intermedia Arts has inspired people to make change in their lives and communities. Our mission is to be a catalyst that builds understanding among people through art. We foster excellence in the creative process and product by presenting a multitude of perspectives, and we create a context in which those perspectives can be understood. By stimulating broader civic dialogue and giving voice to the issues and experiences of underrepresented communities, we contribute to a stronger, healthier society.

At Intermedia Arts, we make it a priority to present and support the creation of artistic work through an authentic, community-engaged process. We develop programs and artworks through extensive workshops, dialogues, and residencies in the community, encouraging dynamic participation by a wide range of people and providing a platform for voices that often go unheard. The connections established through our programs stimulate creativity, bridge cultural gaps, and broaden the foundation of our community.

We place particular emphasis on supporting underrepresented communities. We believe that each of us has the right to assert our place in cultural life, and we empower ourselves and our community to do just that. We encourage authentic expression of individual cultural values, stories and histories—in our own words; in our own ways. We are committed to listening to, responding to and collaborating with artists and our community.
