Feline Freestyle Cipher Session: The art of Freestyle and Battle Rapping, 12:00PM - 2:00PM
Intermedia Arts | $5 at the door

Freestyle rhyme is foundational to the art of being an MC. Twin Cities hiphop pioneer, MC and beatboxer TruthMaze, along with local hip hop powerhouses Maria Isa and Tish Jones, will present a workshop on freestyle rhyming andbattle rapping, exploring the basic strategies of memorization and on the spot themes towards expressing the mind and voice. “All The Ladies Say” A Documentary Film, 5:30 PM

Directed by A. “Rokafella” Garcia, FREE with block party entrance fee

“All The Ladies Say” is a film that highlights the lives of six iconic female street dancers from San Jose, Atlanta, Miami and Chicago, who have carved a niche in the physically challenging, male dominated breakdance world. Discussions about motherhood, sexual tension, femininity versus masculinity and the rap industry/mainstream images are a few of the themes explored by the documentary’s main characters. International dancers not only make appearances but also add their two cents about life as a B Girl in the Hip-hop world.

Showcases the very essence of hip-hop dance: the ability to freestyle in the cipher. Live drumming and DJing add to the excitement. as locally and nationally recognized female hip-hop dancers take their turn in the cipher sharing their specific skills and raw improvisational energy!
