Bad Mama Jama Jam features the very best of the Twin Cities’ rising hip-hop dance stars. These local hip-hop dancers and choreographers (ages 15-25) are a whole new generation of breakers, poppers, and lockers ready to tear it up as they bring the house down. Watch out as old and new schools collide in this action-packed show!

BRIDGET BURKE started dancing at a studio at age three. She has trained in Ballet, tap, jazz,modern, lyrical, hip-hop, and more. She has performed in many Minnesota theaters including the O’Shaughnessy, Fitzgerald, and the State Theater. Bridget won a dance contest and had an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres show. Her specialty is hip-hop; she enjoys teaching, battling and just performing in general. Over the past year, Bridget has won numerous Judge’s Choice awards and scholarships for her unique hip-hop style. She recently graduated from the St. Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists and is planning on attending school for massage therapy in addition to teaching and dancing in the twin cities. Eventually Bridget will move to L.A. to continue her career in dance.
Girl-ISH is an all-female hip-hop dance group based in the Twin Cities that merges a wide range of stylesfrom fresh hip-hop dance to breakdancing to funk styles in a powerful and exciting performance that will absolutely have you on your feet, moving to the beat. Inspired by hip-hop culture and artistry, Girl-ISH combines the classic dance moves of the ‘old school’ era with the modern dancing of today. Girl-ISH’s goals are to preserve the true elements of hip-hop while sharing their love for dance and having fun.

BELLA: We are Cici, Shavon, and Rachel, three girls from North Minneapolis with big dreams... We have been dancing together since we were 6 years old in dance studios around the Twin Cites. The odds have always been against us growing up in the 'hood but we have found peace in our dancing!!!!!! Thank u and God willing we will see u soon.
B.U.C. (Blaizin’ Up Clique) is a dance group that has the most fascinating energy to rock the stage and the eyes of their audience. B.U.C. was founded by group members X-Ten and Lil-A, who began dancing together at Cooper High School in 2007. Their dance dreams are still going strong today. Since founding B.U.C., the group has been involved with Universal Dance Destiny, have performed backup for a poetic group, and have performed at the Walker Art Center and have opened for Slum Village, Sean Kingston Poetry, Poetry Actin’, G’Rize and many more … check ‘em out!
CATFOX aka Amy Campion (Video) overlaps street dance, poetry, film and beatboxing to create moving visual metaphors. Her recent creations include Breaking the Cypher, a multi-media dance spectacular that sold out the Ford Amphitheatre and received a standing ovation; BGirls or Be Girls, an outspoken performance about the struggles of women who break; and Diamonds, a two-woman hip-hop dance/theater play. Catfox teaches hip-hop dance and choreography at Cerritos College and El Camino College. In 2006, Catfox graduated from UCLA’s Department of World Arts and Cultures with an MFA in choreography. FLOOR TRIBE CREW is based out of St. Paul and is comprised of the following members: Luchie Lee (aka Luquid), also part of Popperazii Crew; Chue Vang, also part of Popperazii crew; Billy Xiong (aka Funkzilla), also part of Smoke Kingz Crew and Funkytown Funktionz; Challi Vang (aka Challi-ROC), also part of Funkytown Funktionz; Kao Her (aka Bboy-Dumb), also part of Sexual Funk Crew, BoomBox Crew, and One Hit Wonderz; and Mimo Xiong (aka MimotheGreat), a 15-year-old B-girl reppin' Booby Trap, Sexual Funk, FloorTribe, and Boom Box Crew.
ILL-MATIC CREW is a group of young hip-hop dancers led by choreographer and teacher Amy Sackett. Ill-Matic Crew is versed in the original and new school styles of hip-hop dance. The mission of the group is to grow as performers and to inspire young people through the medium of hip-hop dance. Since their formation in 2007, they have performed at B-Girl Be (2007), the Walker Art Center’s Hip-Hop Celebration, the Ordway’s Flint Hills Children’s Festival (2008), Culture Fest (2008), and B-Girl MonaLisa’s Breast Cancer Benefit (2008). Founder Amy Sackett teaches, performs, and choreographs both nationally and internationally. She currently teaches at Old Arizona Youth Programs, Dance Endeavors, Zenon Dance Co. and School, Collective, and Circus Juventus. Sackett is a founding member and artistic director of Collective Hip-Hop Dance Company, and recently received a Jerome Foundation Travel/Study Grant to travel to Rotterdam, Holland with fellow dancer B-Girl MonaLisa in order to study with members of the Hip-Hop Huis. Sackett believes hip-hop culture is a positive force that can be used to uplift and inspire young people worldwide.
INDIE (Video) is a very versatile artist and has developed as a dancer, choreographer, MC and vocalist, with all of her art based upon originality as a principle. Always influenced by hip-hop culture, her inspiration, Indie has been teaching hip-hop classes at dance schools since 1999, when she also joined the dance and percussion company Alkora as a dancer, choreographer and percussionist. Indie’s dancing has always had a clear African influence. In 2003 she began to dance with some of the best hip-hop companies in Spain, including Barcelona’s Outsiders, winners of several prestigious awards. Indie also danced for NIKE and made several appearances throughout Europe. She has danced videos including the famous Dj Vadim (Got To Rock), and was choreographer and dancer for the singer Danna Leese of Washinton City (hip-hop, house) since 2006 as well as for the Danish clothing brand BLEND. Indie always tries to convey the essence in her dance: the urban, the rhythmic, the style ... the feeling, without forgetting the basics: technique and history.
