"Painting is for me not a only a creative language, but also magic and oniric. It is a special dimension where I can express my emotions and feelings. I can perceive the sentiment of the universal soul and that is the source of inspiration for my art. The main theme in my art has been the concept of woman in the intuitive and spiritual levels."
Cecilia Pino graduated in Art Teaching at Universidad de Chile in Arica, Chile in 1985. For several years, she did extensive research in pre-Hispanic Art in the northern part of Chile. From 1982 to 1984, she participated in a multidisciplinary archeological and anthropological cohort at the Museo Antropológico San Miguel. She was founder and director of the Art Academy for children. She taught art to high-risk children at the Paula Jara Quemada Foundation for four years and at Octavio Palma High School for fifteen years. In 1993 she founded and directed the talented and gifted program "Morparnasse".
After moving with her family to the US in 2001, Cecilia participated in an art workshop at the Minnesota River School of Fine Arts in 2002. In 2003-2004 she exhibited her paintings for the Burnsville Area Society for the Art, and in 2005 she volunteered in the summer program "Educational Equity" at the Bloomington School District. She was Artist Intern in the Espejos 2007 Program of Intermedia Arts. In that same year she was invited by the Walker Art Center to participate in the artist for educators program as part of the Frida Kahlo exhibit.
This year, besides being the Espejos 2008 mentor in visual arts, Cecilia is also director in an art program at Casa Guadalupana that helps women to express their spirituality through religious art.
Cecilia Pino se graduó en Enseñanza del Arte en la Universidad de Chile en Arica, Chile en 1985. En los años siguientes, hizo trabajo de investigación en arte pre-hispánico en la zona norte de Chile. De 1982 a 1984, participó en trabajo arqueológico y antropológico multidisciplinario en el Museo Antropológico de San Miguel. Fue fundadora y directora de la Academia de Arte para niños. Enseñó arte a niños de alto riesgo en la Fundación Paula Jara Quemada por cuatro años, por quince años enseñó en lel Colegio Octavio Palma. En 1993 fue fundadora y directora del programa “Morparnasse.”
Después de venir con su familia a los Estados Unidos en 2001, Cecilia participó en 2002 en un taller de arte en el Minnesota River School of Fine Arts. En 2003-2004 exhibió sus pinturas en la Sociedad para el Arte del Area de Burnsville, y en 2005 fue voluntaria del programa de “Equidad Educativa” del Distrito Escolar de Bloomington. Cecilia fue Artista Interna en el programa Espejos 2007 de Intermedia Arts. En ese mismo año fue invitada por el Walker Center a participar en el programa artistas para educadores como parte de la Exhibición Frida Kahlo.
Este año, además de ser la maestra de artes visuals para Espejos 2008, Cecilia es directora de un programa de arte en la Casa Guadalupana que ayuda a las mujeres a expresar su espiritualidad atraves del arte religioso.
