WORKSHOP SCHEDULE
MAKIN' BEATS
Saturdays, November 12 & 19 | 1-4PM
Cost: $15
Learn about hip-hop songwriting and production: storytelling, sampling and multitrack recording. This workshop will be taught by the local hip hop producers known as Big Quarters.
DANCE: FROM AFRICAN TO HIP-HOP
Tuesday/Thursday, December 6 & 8 | 4-6:30PM

Location: Minnesota Transitional High School | located in the Minnehaha Mall next to Lake St. Target in South MPLS
Learn how contemporary Hip Hop dance moves connect to African dance traditions. This is an active movement based workshop so be ready to dance.

Taught by leading Twin Cities artists this series of workshops will explore spoken word, dance, hip-hop history and graffiti all from a female perspective. Open to boys and girls.

This February, Intermedia Arts will present a one-of-a-kind opportunity to local youth interested in spoken-word: three intensive workshop sessions, facilitated by some of the top voices in the local spoken-word scene (including Guante, Tish Jones, Marisa Carr and more). Students will learn about the history and cultural foundations of spoken-word, explore the basics of turning raw ideas into powerful performance art, engage in writing exercises, work on their performance technique and much more. The workshop will culminate in an open mic night dedicated to celebrating teen voices.

EXPLORING BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOGRAPHY

Learn how to creatively use manual SLR film cameras to shoot B&W film. Make prints in the darkroom while exploring the craft and art of photography.
