Partner Organizations

The involvement of the Somali Documentary Project and Abdi Roble is made possible in partnership with Arts Midwest, the Ohio Arts Council and the International Education Center.

Arts Midwest connects people throughout the Midwest and the world to meaningful arts opportunities, sharing creativity, knowledge, and understanding across boundaries. One of six nonprofit regional arts organizations in the United States, Arts Midwest is dedicated to identifying and examining the Midwest's distinct cultural visions and styles, and informing audiences of the value of creative expression.

In the visual arts, Arts Midwest collaborates with museums and arts centers throughout our region to share resources and expertise. Since 1997, Arts Midwest has co-produced six exhibitions that have traveled to 26 cities in the United States, Europe, and South America. For more information visit www.artsmidwest.org.

The Ohio Arts Council is a state agency that funds and supports quality arts experiences to strengthen Ohio communities culturally, educationally and economically.

The Ohio Arts Council's International Program is recognized as a leader in cultural arts exchanges among U.S. state arts agencies. Designed to foster long-term involvement in international cultural exchanges, the International Program encourages Ohio artists and arts organizations to form partnerships with arts professionals abroad. For more information visit www.oac.state.oh.us.

The International Education Center is made up of the Twin Cities International Elementary School (grades k-4), the Minnesota International Middle School (grades 5-7) and the Ubah Medical Academy. It opened its doors in the fall of 2001. Founded by educational leaders in the East African community, the center strives to provide a quality academic program, in a culturally sensitive setting, for immigrant and refugee children. The school's program features best-practice English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction.

Two co-directors, Abdirashid Warsame and Helen Fisk, are the chief administrators at the school. This shared leadership model allows the school to offer the best possible American academic program in a setting that respects and values community input.
