SARAH WHITE

www.myspace.com/sarahwhitesol

Sarah White's passion for hip-hop began at the age of 14--with poetry and gradually moving towards rhyming. In 2001, Sarah was a lead vocalist for the live hip-hop band, Traditional Methods. She has opened for Medusa, Fishbone, Camp-Lo, Juvenile and RhymeSayers artists. With two releases, including Traditional Method's "Falling Forward", Sarah teamed with Samarha to create Black Blondie, a jazz and hip hop inspired band and she is building a long awaited solo project. Inspiration comes from a variety of places and people including Stevie Wonder, Bahamadia, Bjork, and Erykah Badu. Sarah hopes to inspire people through music the way these artists have influenced her. Performing regionally and locally for three years she has been compared to Lauryn Hill, Sade, and India Arie. Quiet but powerful, raspy and sultry, political yet affectionate--she commands the listeners attention with a combination of rhyme and smooth melodies.

Sarah has also been active in the Minneapolis fashion scene. She has coordinated fashion shows for the Push Conference 2005 at the Walker Art Center, "Beats, Kicks, Models and Threads" by Balance featuring Dj Premere and Marley Marl, and the sold out Industry Minnezine Anniversary Party at Solera. This year, Sarah is co-curator for B-Girl Be's fashion show.
