| Aiko Shirakawa is a
legendary pioneer of the international hip-hop community. She has produced
and hosted hip-hop events for the past 13 years and has been street dancing
since she was 11 years old (1979). A teacher of hip-hop history through
the SAGES(1993) program and the Zulu Nation (1992) and now with 5th Element
and Collective 7. Aiko also taught break-dancing at the Local Community
Center's in San Jose since1994 and now for CORAL's after-school program
in San Jose.Not to mention the first all female Hip Hop organization (5th
Element) that supports women in Hip Hop in northern California. She advocates
hip-hop programming as an intervention force for underprivileged youth of
color. She is a bi-racial single mother of Mexican and Japanese descent.
