Ashwanti (a.k.a. Daughter MC)


Raised in a environment of hip-hop and performing artist, this daughter of two emcees has captured the spirit of writing and performing at an early age. During her academic years at Minneapolis Public Schools she has been a recognized and praised poet performing at cultural events as well as annual tributes to Martin Luther King Jr. This young emcee/poet has worked with many organizations in the Twin Cities, including Learning Works, B Girl Be, Minnesota Spoken Word Association, who invited her to perform at a Conference for Young Women when she was only eleven. This past year at age 15, through Soulistic Playhouse she was invited to share her words and wisdom at the City of Golden Valley's Annual Celebration of Human Rights. She is excited to again participate in this years B Girl Be as she expresses that it's has a positive outlook on the future of young women artist.
