Baby Love

Baby Love is a Hip Hop icon, being the only b-girl that toured with New York City's Rock Steady Crew in the 1980s as well as the star b-girl of the classic movie "Beat Street". She started her career as a ballet and flamenco dancer when she was six years old and continued to learn other dance techniques such as Contemporary Jazz until she was introduced to breakdancing by two members of the Young City Boys, her brother, Andy Castro, and Kenneth Gabbert aka Ken Swift. After mastering the basics of "Footwork" and "Uprock", Baby Love met Richard Colon aka Crazy Legs and joined the Rock Steady Crew. She and the crew then went on the worldwide Wild Style Tour, performing live and making international television appearances. In addition to dancing, Baby Love recorded two hit singles with the Rock Steady Crew, " Hey You, The Rock Steady Crew" and "Uprock," as well as an album, "Ready for Battle," for Charisma/Virgin Records. The younger generations of up-and-coming b-girls have given Baby Love regenerated love for the scene and she is committed to the promotion and development of positive female role models in the Hip Hop community through an organization of women called the Collective 7.
