Being
involved in the Hip-Hop culture during ‘70’s was an exciting
time. But my participation was very low key. I would hang out during the
parties while friends would be MCing, DJing or Breaking. What I would
do needed to be kept confidential. Not only from the public but also from
my family. It was and still is: Graffiti. It was in the fifth grade that
I would compete against the boys in my class lettering style. It was in
high school the erotic characters in black books. Then it was my years
in college, Fashion Institute of Technology, which truly brought me out
a bit more. In the early ‘90’s I started to pick up a spray
can and make my mark in the NYC Subway System. Pictures can be provided.
I have been featured in several books “Broken Windows” James
and Karla Murray: Ginko Press, “Burning New York” James and
Karla Murray: Ginko Press and “Graffiti Women” Nicholas Ganz:
Thames & Hudson. My art work has been featured in a recent video for
the vocal artist, Joss Stone. I am in the crew, Fly ID and have painted
several murals that were collaborations with fellow artists. I enjoy graffiti
for the simple fact that I love to see my name up anywhere. It is a form
of self advertising. |
