The
onslaught of rampant consumerism has created a fashion industry that today
determines for us what we should and not wear at a specific time of day
or year. However, fashion has always been guided by those who take chances
and develop a style all their own. It is then that “having style”
holds an entirely different meaning, apart from being “in style”
with the latest trends. Today’s fashion marketing intends to establish
that trends end with the product they are selling you. The marketing of
accessory design has had a major boom among the masses with couture labels
such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Coach and Chanel, to name a few. I chose
wallets of these brands as my canvas to break the standards of the fashion
marketing industry by allowing myself to voice the opinion that trends
should be made your own. I hope it serves as inspiration for others to
do the same.
