Scientist by day, dancer by night, Maia Maiden
has been in the dance community for over 15 years. Born and raised in
South Minneapolis, she has studied all genres of dance primarily focusing
on West African and Hip-Hop. In 1995, she created "Infinity",
a Hip-Hop dance troupe at Apple Valley High School (the first of its kind).
Since then, she has danced at many venues and productions in the Twin
Cities, most recently: Abstraktions: Requiem for a Homegirl choreographed
by Leah Nelson, BlackArtsFusion choreographed by Maia Maiden, Karla Nweje
and Ellena Schoop, and Revolutionary Soul Sistas choreographed by Roxane
Wallace. She is also a member of IZORA Productions, a multi-disciplinary
performance group with a focus on dance, theater and poetry/spoken word.
Currently, she is attending Keller Graduate School of Management, studying
for a Masters Degree in Business Administration.
