Espejos [or "mirrors" in Spanish] (Para Español)

Espejos is a program sponsored by Intermedia Arts and The Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, meant to help develop new and emerging Mexican artists mostly those who have NEVER had a public showing of their work.

The program spans a 7 month period where pairs meet regularly and as a group monthly to develop their work as guided by mentors who are fluent both in Spanish and who are familiar with artistic resources in the Twin Cities.

Mentors were selected by Intermedia Arts staff by speaking directly to Mexican artists, and by selecting a group of established artists who are not only accomplished in their own body of work, but who would also work well together. Mentors in this round are:

Visual/installation artist Patricia Mendoza (http://www.patriciamendoza.com), performance/visual artist Deborah Ramos (http://www.mnartists.org), and visual/clown Anselmo Cornejo (http://www.mnartists.org).

Mentees are selected based on their commitment to work with a mentor, as well as their interest in developing their work-however raw or new it is. Mentees selected: Jovita Francisco-Morales, Jessica Gutierrez, Ulises Lopez and Alejandro Vargas.
