She creates ceramic sculpture, photographs, installation art, mosaic murals and recently, Mexihca (Aztec)-inspired paintings on bark-paper. Deborah studied fine arts at the University of Minnesota and has exhibited work at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, the Mexican Fine Arts Center Museum (Chicago), the Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts (San Francisco), the C.N. Gorman Gallery (University of California-Davis) and, performs with In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theater (Minneapolis). In 2001, Deborah collaborated with Mexican and local artists on the creation of Resource Center of the Americas' colossal mosaic mural in Minneapolis. Since then, she works with youth in the creation of mosaic sculpture. Currently, she is coordinator of the Espejos mentorship program for emerging Chicano/a, Latino/a and Mexicano/a artists at Intermedia Arts and, is illustrator and co-founder of the children's book project, Cocone Amoxtli, with poet Ayme Almendarez. Deborah has recently revived her passion for violin-playing and is also an Aztec dancer. She is originally from El Paso, Texas and has lived in the Twin Cities, Minnesota for 13 years. Ella crea esculturas de cerámica, fotografías, "installation art," murales de mosaico y recientemente, pinturas en amate inspiradas por sus ancestros Mexihca.
