2006 Community Judges
Poetry
Multidisciplinary artist, e.g.BAILEY, is an actor, spoken word artist, filmmaker, playwright and producer. Born in Saclepea, Liberia, he has lived in the United States since 1979. Bailey co-founded and co-produced Write On RaDio!, an award-winning weekly literary radio program on KFAI Fresh Air Radio. He co-wrote and co-produced Blues for Nina, a poetic interpretation of the life and music of Nina Simone, and produces Words Will Heal the Wound: a celebration of community through poetry. Bailey travels internationally and has lectured at several schools and universities and has been a teaching artist, trainer, and consultant.
HALEY LASCHÉ is a graduate student at Hamline University and a founding member of West Egg Literati. She has been on the steering committees of two college based literary magazines and has worked on Water~Stone Review as a student editor. She has forth-coming poems in The Furnace Review and in the What Light collection, and she has performed her poems at such venues as Intermedia Arts, Magers and Quinn Bookstore, and The Hexagon Bar. In addition to her literary career, she is a college instructor, a professional post-modern dancer, and a punk rock fashion model.

JERMAINE SINGLETON
JULIE M. THOMPSON directs the Writing Center, Tutoring, and Academic
Skills Programs at Hamline University. Author of the 2002 book Mommy
Queerest: Contemporary Rhetorics of Lesbian Maternal Identity, Jules
is venturing currently into creative nonfiction. She's at work on an
essay collection titled The Survivor Chronicles. When she's not
listening to and thinking about jazz and rap, she enjoys sharing time
with her writing group pals, playing with her two cats, and reading.
She was very happy to serve as a community judge for the SASE/Jerome
Awards Grants.
