Minnesota Advocates for Human Rights is a volunteer-based, non-profit organization that has been working for the promotion and protection of internationally-recognized human rights since 1983. Minnesota Advocates works locally, nationally, and internationally on human rights issues impacting children, women, refugees & immigrants, and marginalized populations. Minnesota Advocates for Human Rights documents human rights abuses, advocates on behalf of individual victims of human rights violations, and provides training and technical assistance to address human rights issues. In addition to this responsive role, Minnesota Advocates actively promotes human rights education as a means of preventing human rights violations and creating a more just society. For ten years, the Education Program of Minnesota Advocates has promoted and developed the practice of human rights education through recruitment, training, direction and support of teachers, adult volunteers and emerging student activists. The organization has also developed numerous curricular resources related human rights education for all grade levels.
