| Born in Tehran, Iran, influenced by her parents' artistic and educational backgrounds, Leila majored in art and art history. As an immigrant of Iran putting down roots in America, she initially realized the difference between the two cultures. Through time she realized that among the many differences in traditions and customs, the underlying themes were the same. The respect and caring for self and others, a sense of belonging, and social responsibility are cherished values within the multicultural setting of institutions. Within a positive framework the exploration of cultural histories and beauties will provide a window to the pressing question of "How do we live with each other?" Through this presentation, Leila will share her stories and engage students and community members in activities which could include tile murals, skits and making masks for appropriate age groups. | ||
