| Maryam Yusefzadeh received her early musical training in Iran and recieved her Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from the University of Minnesota. Co-founder of the group Robayat, Maryam is actively involved with Persian music as a vocalist, percussionist, educator and guest lecturer. She has also studied and performed western classical music and jazz. In 2001, Maryam was awarded a Jerome Foundation Grant to compose the music for a Persian play, "Sohrab and Rustam" with playwright Zaraawar Mistry and percussionist Tim O' Keefe. Maryam is also co-founder of Minnesota Global Arts, an organization focused on advancing the world cultural knowledge through music. Through music and song, Maryam brings to life the story of her childhood and her upbringing in Iran while exploring commonalities across cultures. | ||
