Mirror, Mirror
by Katie Herron
Mentored by Shawn McConneloug
Mirror, Mirror is a movement-based performance that takes us through the looking glass of one woman’s struggle with perfectionism, asking how do we really see ourselves, and through whose eyes? Breaking through the media reinforced commercialization of the female body, Herron addresses the non-reality of the image of perfection we find ourselves mimicking limitlessly, sometimes in horrific ways, using personal narrative, projections, and her obsession with math. How do we define ourselves? How are we defined? And what happens when our perception of beauty collides with our struggle for perfection? Herron is coached by Shawn McConneloug, Artistic Director of Shawn McConneloug and her Orchestra*
