Katie Ka Vang5:1 Meaning of Freedom; 6:2 Use of Sharpening Directed by Laurie Carlos ![]() Katie Ka Vang Through spoken word, prose, movement influenced by traditional Asian pop culture, modern dancing and martial arts, Naked Stages 2007 performance artist Katie Ka Vang tells the true story of a soldier fighting in the jungles of Laos for a concept he couldn’t even comprehend: freedom. 5:1 Meaning of Freedom; 6:2 Use of Sharpening explores the concept of freedom; the journey to attain it, those who are living it, those who will be living it, and how to live in it. Katie Ka Vang is an Asian American performer. She has performed for Center for Hmong Arts and Talent, Pangea World Theater, Theater Mu, Expose Brick Theater, and Pillsbury House Theater’s Breaking Ice. She co-wrote and directed the youth play Myth of Xee. Her latest performance was with Pangea World Theater in From The Ashes in New York City at the National Asian American Theater Festival. In addition, she also enjoys performing at various open mics around the twin cities.
