Intermedia Arts offers a wide variety of workshops, classes, daycamps, and residencies at libraries, schools and community centers throughout the Metro and across the state. From filmmaking and creative writing to graffiti art, dance, and spoken word, our in-school, after-school, and community programs empower young people with the skills and tools they need to become positive catalysts for change. B-GIRL BE: HIP-HOP HISTORY, CULTURE & CREATION
Multi-Disciplinary (Literary Arts, Visual Arts, Performing Arts)
For Grades 7-12

B-Girl Be curriculum engages boys and girls in discovering the power of authentic hip-hop through dance, vocals, graffiti art and/or spoken word. PROJECT GIRL: A GIRL'S GUIDE TO DE-MEDIAFYING HER LIFE

NEW! R.HYTHM A.ND P.OETRY
Multi-Disciplinary (Literary Arts, Performing Arts)
For Grades 7-12

This session will encourage participants to make music with their bodies & mouths through interactive exercises experimenting with rhythm. The workshop will also include a short writing period where participants will write on a theme and come together to create a collaborative piece with rhythm and poetry. Longer residencies of R.A.P. will allow participants to learn about the collaborative process and hone their writing and performance skills.

IT'S YOUR VOICE (USE IT!): SPOKEN WORD FOR TEENS

This workshop introduces youth to the art of spoken word, what it sounds like, how it's used, local opportunities for young spoken word poets   and, most importantly, will give students the creative tools and fundamental skills needed to create their own work.

INTRODUCTION TO PODCASTING

Produce and upload your own podcast reports! Podcasts are short informational news-based or opinion based segments that people can watch on-line or download to a portable media player. They can be posted on web pages and can include an interactive comment page for viewer to  give feedback.

EXPERIMENTAL FILM

For Grades 7-12

Drawing inspiration from 20th century American experimental and underground film, youth will explore the "elements" of filmmaking: sound,
color, light, texture, pattern, rhythm. Youth will work in small groups to create several short experimental films that explore the possibilities of image making.

CRITICAL EYE: UNDERSTANDING MEDIA

Television, Youtube, movies, commercials, websites; youth today are surrounded by multi-media messages. Learn how to look at media critically to decode how it works in order to improve your media literacy skills.

VIDEO DOCUMENTARIES: INTRODUCTION TO DIGITAL STORYTELLING FOR TEENS

Use video to explore and tell a story about a topic or issue important to you or your community. Work with other teens to create a video
documentary and collaborate with people and groups in your community that are trying to make a change.

ANIMATION NATION

For Grades 7-12

Animation Nation is a workshop that explores different approaches to animation, including Flash, stop-motion, flipbooks, and claymation. This workshop can be structured according to a specific topic or theme, or can serve as a basic introduction to the skills necessary to create digital animation.

Intermedia Arts specializes in designing one-of-a-kind experiences created specifically to meet your needs. Our artists work in a variety of disciplines, including: creative writing, film & media, dance, hip-hop, spoken word, graffiti art & muralism; and are experienced in addressing a multitude of themes such as art, community, social change, social justice, leadership, race, culture, and creativity.
