B-GIRL BE

A Celebration of Women in Hip-Hop

The first of its kind worldwide, Intermedia Arts founded the multimedia festival B-Girl Be: A Celebration of Women in Hip-Hop which showcased and celebrated the contributions of women to hip-hop. Encompassing MCing, DJing, breakdancing and graffiti, B-Girl Be influenced thousands of artists and audience members since its inception in 2005, challenging and changing the perceptions and roles of women in this revolutionary art form.

Intermedia Arts offers B-Girl Be workshops and residencies year-round, engaging young people in exploration of the history, culture and creation of hip-hop. For more information, please contact us.

B-Girl Be 2010  was made possible in part with support from The National Endowment for the Arts. Additional support provided by Bryant Lake Bowl, City Pages, Life Captured a division of OneSource, Moxie Salon and Radio K.
